Yesterday we headed down to Bentley Copse Activity Centre near Shere for a joint activity day with all three sections – Beavers, Cubs and Scouts together which always makes for a great atmosphere.
The centre put on a brilliant range of activities for us: Leap of Faith, crate stacking, archery, aeroball, the cave maze and the gladiator challenge. As ever, it was the Leap of Faith and gladiator challenge that got the biggest screams (and the most wobbly legs).
But some of the best bits of the day weren’t even on the official activity list — den building and generally roaming about in the woods kept plenty of our young people happily occupied, and it’s always good to see them just enjoying the outdoors on their own terms too.
We rounded the day off with a BBQ, which after a day of climbing, crawling and falling (safely!) was very well earned.
None of this happens without a lot of people giving up their Saturday. A huge thank you to all our leaders for organising and running the day, to the staff at Bentley Copse who were great, and a massive thank you to the parent helpers who came along to muck in, supervise, ferry kit about and generally make sure everything ran smoothly. Days like this simply couldn’t happen without you — thank you.
