To mark the end of the summer term and scouting year the whole group – beavers, cubs, scouts, leaders and parents – got together to give back to the community and earn their BBQ.
Turnout was high for the last OGLE of the year. OGLE stands for Old Graveyard Landscaping Enterprise. It’s the name we give to the fact that Chobham Scout Group has been regularly maintaining the old village graveyard in support of the parish for many years now. It is a great way for the young people to get involved locally. Over the years we have discovered a number of memorials that had been lost to the undergrowth, and learnt some of the stories behind them too – most notably the five war graves present here.
With the work of moving, strimming, chopping and tidying done it was time to move to the scout hut for the BBQ and fun afternoon. We broke out the skittle alley which hadn’t been out for a while and proved popular, as did the table tennis. Much fun, and BBQ, was had by all.
Many thanks to all the leaders and parents for their support this Sunday and throughout the whole year. There’s plenty more great stuff planned for after the summer.
